Erin and I recently finished hanging my new show at Red River Gallery for the month of December. If you are in Concord, NH this month please be sure to stop in to see a film and my new works! The Theatre is located on Main St. next to Gibson’s Independent Book Store (27 Main St.) and the Bread and Chocolate Bakery and Cafe which you can enter from the bookstore.

Also…The Spoon Revolution Vegan Bistro at 55 Main St. had a great 4 course lunch for 8.99 plus tax. My food savvy daughter, Erin and I enjoyed the meal and left feeling nourished and great!

A million Thanks to Erin for her assistance, good taste, humor and honesty!

The statement for the show follows…

Transfiguration Matters

For as long as she can remember, Taintor Davis Child has had fun playing with color, line, shapes and textures. The polystyrene packaging forms that are her most recent “canvas, or ground”, delight her as an artist. She thinks about the people who work to design these materials that fit snuggly around our appliances, devices and electronics while they travel from manufacturer to seller to buyer. This artist revels in the way these forms are constructed in order to fill the negative spaces in a box. She wonders how much of this molded Polystyrene is made and then destroyed or stored by those loathe to discard it. Taintor is celebrating the intrinsic beauty in these Found pieces by delightedly engaging in the transfiguration of the stuff we commonly think of as Trash.
An established visual artist and experienced educator, Taintor is an undaunted plantswoman, a reflective and talented organizer, an innovative thinker and dreamer. Over the last three decades, Taintor’s paintings and drawings have shown in a variety of New England Galleries and venues. She has taught art and Garden-Related programs in academic and community settings. She is passionate about Art, Literacy and Nature. Taintor enjoys Guiding groups and individuals in visual art processes and production. This is often done In her “Making Marks Studio” of Rollinsford, NH.
For visual artists: Taintor is the Curator for monthly shows of local works at The Black Bean Cafe, Rollinsford, NH. 03869. She can be reached at 603-970-0018.
